What is included in a Basic Eye Examination?

According to Al Abeer’s Ophthalmology scope, it usually includes:

Visual Acuity Test

Checks how clearly you can see

Usually done using a Snellen / eye chart (letters on a board)

Refraction Test

Determines whether you need glasses or contact lenses

Helps identify: short sight (myopia), long sight (hyperopia), astigmatism

Pupil Examination

Checks pupil size, shape, and reaction to light

Helps assess nerve response & eye function

⏱️ How long does it take?

Usually 15–30 minutes (can be more if further tests are needed).

If you want, I can also explain the next tests like Slit Lamp Examination and Tonometry (they are commonly done after the basic eye exam).
